Came for the Springfield Cashew Chicken. It was legit. Portions are huge. We put in two pint size orders for our family of five and went home with a full pint of leftovers. Not much of an eat-in place. I noticed that most people were doing take-out. That's what we will do next time.

I've lived in the Midwest for seven years and hadn't tried Springfield Cashew Chicken yet. Heard Tao Tao has the best in town so seemed like the place for my first taste. Although I generally like spicier dishes, I can totally see why this is such a popular dish. It's a tasty fusion of Chinese and trad Midwestern food. Crispy deep-fried chunks of chicken served on a bed of white rice and generously garnished with diced onion, scallion greens and, of course, cashews. It's served with good old brown gravy - ours was served on the side, but I think it's typically served tossed in with the chicken. It's great, crunchy fried chicken - not the more insipid battered stuff you usually see in take-out places that gets soggy quickly. We also had a chance to try out some new flavours of rangoons they had just introduced to the menu - spinach and artichoke, buffalo chicken and jalapeño bacon - all totally addictive. I'd go back just for those. This restaurant has been in KCK since the 1970s and the family that runs it is very friendly and eager to please. We watched as they greeted their regulars by name. Great service with a smile.

Tao Tao is a great little diamond hiding in the rough. Have been there many times and every time the quality and quantity were always fantastic. My personal favorite is the Veggie soup with beef extra hot. Annie always makes it just right and it's especially a favorite when I'm sick as it clears the sinuses with a mad rush of heat. Another favorite is the Orange Chicken or the General Tzao's Chicken. Lots of veggies and tons of meat. The Egg Rolls aren't always fantastic, but they are always good.

Wow, this place was a little hectic for me. It is kind of disorderly and hard to order. I know it was a busy night but they barely listen to you or acknowledge that you were speaking. Halfway through ordering, they just pick up the phone and start talking. I got my order to go. I got a 6 pc Crab Rangoon and Mongolian Combination. It came to $12. You don't get sweet and sour or duck sauce for your Crab Rangoon. You just get those dumb little packets. I had to ask for them about 6 times. She gave me one, after giving me 12 soy sauce I didn't ask for. I wanted hot mustard, but just gave up at that point because she was on the phone again. I was going to order a drink, but again... just gave up. The Crab Rangoon filling was probably some of the best I've had. Seriously, they were awesome. The Mongolian Combination was not at all what I expected. I thought it would be like Mongolian Beef or Mongolian Triple Delight that I get at a place in Lenexa. This was more like Moo Goo Gai Pan. It was good, but it wasn't the Mongolian Sauce I was craving. It said spicy on the menu, and they were not lying. I probably would have requested "less spicy" my first time around, but since they weren't really interested in what I wanted, I didn't bother. I don't think I'll go back just because I didn't like the counter service. If I do, I'll just get Crab Rangoon and run.

Tao Tao is hometown favorite among locals from the Dotte..I grew up eating Chef Annie's food, she cooks and prepares the food right in front of you and its quality..I prefer her before the others that come frozen to being heated up in the kitchen. Try it you wont be disappointed.

Decent Americanized Chinese food. Nothing special, but the place is quick and Chef Annie is very nice. I recommend the Springfield Cashew chicken (with the gravy).

A little Mom-and-Pop family takeout that offers some seriously fantastic, homemade noodles, crab rangoon and more. The price is right, and the food is great! We'll be back!

I think Tao Tao has been here since the mid-70s? KCK? I remember coming home on leave once in the late-70s and a friend of mine who lived on Strawberry Hill ordered take out. It was my first experience with the place. I usually order pork egg fu young from here. I call it in and it's ready when I get there. It's close to my crib too, so that's a plus. It's clean too. I've had better egg fu young but the convenience makes it easy to pick up the phone and call the order in. I'll be back for sure but it's not always my first choice. The gravy isn't as flavorful as other places and the patties are a bit bland sometimes compared to other places. Like I said, it's convenient, it's clean, it's quick, they're nice people, it's a KCK institution...yes, I'll be back.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
